This breed, the Birman cat, is a BEAUTIFUL cat. It's got semi-longhaired coat of colour-point pattern and comes in a variety of wonderful colors.

The Birman cat is believed to have originated in Burma, and brought to France around 1919.

The Birman is said to be intelligent, intuitive, inquisitive, charming, curious, playful, and dignified. I don't know WHO said that, but I BELIEVE THEM! You can tell just by looking at a Birman that it has to be true!

CAT BREED: OCICAT

This magnificent spotted cat is a mix of Abyssinian, Siamese and American Shorthair and this cat is a rather breed. Looks like a little - domestic - leopard, or rather a small ocelot, from which it got its name. Only it's not quite as wild. But it's just as beautiful.

The ocicat is described as having the spirit of a dog-in a cat's body. It's an out-going cat and the ocicat can easily be trained to do all sorts of tricks.

"Red Tabby" is not really a cat breed. It's a color pattern. But this nondescript-breed red tabby was just irresistible to paint, so I put it in here with the "real breeds". And it's just as beautiful as any breed!

The Russian Blue cat is neither Russian nor blue! Well, this breed is said to come from Russia, which may or may not be true. And they do have a gray-blueish coat. So I guess it's partly true. Or even 100% true, depending on how you look at it.

But what can NOT be debated is, that they are BEAUTIFUL!

This intelligent and "talkative" cat breed has been around for many years. The Siamese is a real "people cat". They love to hang around their human parents, commenting on everything they do.

My mother had a Siamese cat when she was a kid. She went to a cat show with her sister and came home with a Siamese cat! She won it. Luckily my grandparents let her keep it, even though it certainly wasn't a planned "extension" to the family. The Siamese cat's name was Nut!

The British Blue (or British Shorthair) is the descendant of cats brought to Britain by the Romans a long time ago. It has a cute round head and chubby cheeks. These cats have short legs, a rounded body and big, round paws. But don't call them fat - they don't like that. And they are supposed to look like that.

The British Blue cat may not be the most lively cat breed around, but it's certainly not lazy. Just easy-going and calm. A nice, relaxed cat!

This beautiful and charming cat breed has been described as "bricks wrapped in silk" because of their impressive weight and silky coat. But who cares!

The Cornish Rex may have a distinct resemblance to Egyptian statues, but this cat breed is not from Egypt, but as their name implies, from Cornwall, England, where they first appeared in a litter of barn cats born about 1950.

They have very large ears and a very soft "curly" coat. No, it's not really curly - "curly" just sounds funnier than wavy, I think!

Maine Coon cats are big cats. A full grown male Maine Coon can easily weigh in at about 18 pounds. But on the inside they kinda stay kittens all their lives.
